Unauthenticated stored XSS via unescaped CSP reports
Published May 15, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in WP Content Security Plugin 2.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject scripts through CSP report fields. The CSP reporting handler accepts blocked-uri and effective-directive values without sufficient sanitization and later emits the stored values without output escaping. No authentication is required to submit a crafted report, and the script executes in the browser whenever a user opens a page that renders the recorded violation.
