Unauthenticated script execution via unescaped cover image URL
Published Aug 8, 2025 · Updated Aug 8, 2025
Reflected XSS in Liferay Portal 7.4.0 through 7.4.3.133 and affected Liferay DXP releases allows remote attackers to inject JavaScript. The blogs-web entry_cover_image_caption.jsp template writes coverImageURL into a CSS background-image value without HTML-attribute escaping. No authentication or separate user action is required by the published assessment; injected script executes in the requesting browser context and can read data available there.
