Browser denial of service via unbounded text highlighting
Published Jun 17, 2025 · Updated Jun 26, 2025
Denial of service in Dmitry Prokashev microlight 0.0.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash or hang a browser via oversized text. The reset function in microlight.js processes every character of microlight-class element text and creates DOM nodes without enforcing an input-size limit. Exploitation requires a user to load a page containing 100 million characters; GitHub withdrew its advisory because that proof of concept does not demonstrate practical security impact.
