Unauthenticated command execution via DynDNS hostname injection
Published May 6, 2025 · Updated May 6, 2025
Command injection in Linksys E5600 firmware 1.1.0.26 allows remote attackers to execute OS commands through the DynDNS hostname field. The runtime.ddnsStatus handler places the DdnsP hostname value into a shell command without neutralizing command metacharacters. Exploitation requires network access to the management interface; the published proof of concept obtains a session before submitting shell syntax that writes command output on the router.
