Code execution via MD5-only firmware verification
Published Jul 25, 2025 · Updated Jul 25, 2025
Firmware integrity bypass in Unitree Go1 Go1_2022_05_11 and earlier allows remote attackers to install modified firmware over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. The /run.sh update script validates packages only with an attacker-recomputable MD5 checksum and performs no digital-signature or certificate check. Access to the robot's Wi-Fi or Ethernet update path is required; accepted firmware can execute attacker-controlled code and disclose data.
