Unauthenticated root code execution via password overwrite
Published May 28, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Improper access control in Tenda W18E v2.0 firmware 16.01.0.11 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via its web portal. The unauthenticated goform/setModules account action passes an attacker-supplied password to formSetAccountList and overwrites the administrator credential. Network access to the management portal is sufficient to seize the administrator account and obtain root command execution through the router's Telnet function.
