Remote code execution via unchecked ZIP paths
Published Aug 13, 2025 · Updated Aug 13, 2025
Path traversal in hortusfox-web 4.4 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code remotely by importing a crafted ZIP archive. ImportModule::start passes the uploaded archive directly to ZipArchive::extractTo without validating entry paths, allowing traversal outside its backup directory. The source record treats the attack as unauthenticated, although its linked proof of concept demonstrates administrator-only theme import rather than the cited backup-import path.
