Privilege escalation via inline SVG script execution
Published Jun 9, 2025 · Updated Jun 9, 2025
Stored XSS in Silverpeas 6.4.2 event management allows remote authenticated users to create administrator accounts through SVG attachments. The file-serving response renders uploaded SVG content inline without a restrictive content security policy, allowing embedded JavaScript to run in the viewer's Silverpeas origin. An attacker needs an account to attach the SVG to an event, and an administrator must open it before the script can obtain the anti-CSRF token and submit an administrator-account request.
