Root access via hardcoded technician jailbreak password
Published Aug 4, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Privilege escalation in RUCKUS Networks Network Director before 4.5 allows local users in its jailed shell to obtain root access. The technician jailbreak in the restricted configuration environment compares an entered password against a weak hardcoded value and then grants root permissions. Exploitation requires an existing jailed-shell session and gives complete control of the appliance and its managed network environment.
