Control-flow hijacking via unbounded authName copy
Published May 20, 2025 · Updated May 21, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in PLANET FW-WGS-804HPT 1.305b241111 allows remote attackers to hijack control flow via a crafted authName value. The web_aaa_loginAuthlistEdit function copies the authName form value with strcpy into a 0x58-byte stack frame without bounding its length. The handler performs an account-authentication check, and the published emulation used a cookie granting sufficient route permissions; CISA nevertheless scores privileges required as none.
