Unauthenticated root command execution via unchecked strcpy
Published May 20, 2025 · Updated Dec 16, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in PLANET FW-WGS-804HPT 1.305b241111 allows remote attackers to execute commands as root via a crafted ruleName value. web_acl_mgmt_Rules_Apply_post passes the ruleName form value to strcpy without a length check, overflowing a 0xa0-byte stack buffer and permitting control-flow hijacking. The management route is network-reachable without prior authentication, and successful exploitation grants root-level command execution.
