Unauthenticated code execution via ACL rule-name stack overflow
Published May 20, 2025 · Updated May 22, 2025
Stack overflow in PLANET WGS-804HPT firmware 1.305b241111 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted byruleEditName value. The web_acl_mgmt_Rules_Edit_postcontains function accepts a rule-name value large enough to exceed its stack buffer and corrupt adjacent stack memory. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation can execute code or crash the managed switch.
