Unauthenticated command execution via unsanitized WAN parameters
Published May 20, 2025 · Updated May 21, 2025
Command injection in adm.cgi in Wavlink WL-WN579A3 firmware 1.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands via WAN settings. The CGI's sub_4018E8 routine concatenates user-controlled WAN values, including rwan_gateway, into a shell command passed unchanged to system(). No authentication or user interaction is required; successful injection runs commands in the router firmware context and permits data access, configuration changes, or a service interrupt.
