Stack-based buffer overflow in Simple College Management System 1.0 allows local users to crash the application through student input. The input() function passes name and branch text to gets(), which writes without bounds into fixed 80-byte and 50-byte stack buffers. Access to the local interactive application is required; the published proof demonstrates an application crash, while overwritten return data creates a code-execution path that the proof does not demonstrate.
