CVE-2025-4472Public exploit

Local application crash via unbounded Item Code input

Published May 9, 2025 · Updated May 9, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in Code Projects Departmental Store Management System 1.0 allows local users to crash the application. The bill function reads an Item Code with unbounded scanf("%s") into a four-byte stack buffer, so input longer than three characters overwrites adjacent memory. Local low-privilege access to the console is required; the demonstrated consequence is an access-violation crash, while control-flow hijacking is feasible but not demonstrated.
