Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked file upload
Published May 9, 2025 · Updated May 9, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in SourceCodester Online Student Clearance System 1.0 allows remote attackers to execute code without authentication. The edit-photo.php handler applies addslashes to the userImage name and content, saves the file in the web-accessible uploads directory, and updates the student record without validating the file type. An unauthenticated multipart request can place a PHP web shell under the web root and invoke it remotely, allowing server control.
