SMM code execution via EfiPcdProtocol out-of-bounds write
Published Jul 30, 2025 · Updated Aug 14, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in InsydeH2O before L05.05.40.011803.172079 allows local users to execute arbitrary code in SMM. The Lenovo-specific EfiSmiServices SMM module performs an out-of-bounds memory write through EfiPcdProtocol; public sources do not identify the affected function or attacker-controlled input. Reaching the flaw requires high local privileges, and successful exploitation can compromise firmware execution beneath the operating system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
