Arbitrary file read via tile path traversal
Published Jul 29, 2025 · Updated Jan 20, 2026
Path traversal in MapTiler Tileserver-php 2.0 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files through crafted tile requests. The renderTile function concatenates the TileMatrix, TileRow, TileCol, and Format parameters into a path that fopen reads without first restricting the resolved path to the tile directory. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation discloses files readable by the web-server process.
