User redirection via unchecked URI destination
Published Jul 23, 2025 · Updated Jul 23, 2025
Open redirect in Pinokio 3.6.23 allows remote attackers to redirect victim users to attacker-controlled pages via a crafted URL. The /pinokio route derives webpath from the user-controlled uri query value and passes it to res.redirect without restricting the destination. Exploitation requires a victim to follow a crafted link and approve the Pinokio URL handler; the referenced proof of concept chains the redirect with path traversal and JavaScript loading for code execution.
