Credential exposure via client-controlled SMB index path
Published Jun 10, 2025 · Updated Jun 17, 2025
SSRF in Keyoti SearchUnit before 9.0.0 allows remote attackers to make the server access an attacker-controlled SMB share. The GetResults and GetLocationAndContentCategories services pass a client-supplied indexDirectory to ConfigurationManager, which reads an existing configuration.xml or creates one on that share. Exploitation requires a crafted search request and outbound SMB access; the server exposes NTLMv2 material and exchanges configuration and log files.
