Authenticated subsystem shutdown via uncaught exception
Published Jun 12, 2025 · Updated Jun 12, 2025
Uncaught exception handling in AVEVA PI Data Archive and PI Server allows remote authenticated users to shut down archive subsystems. AVEVA identifies an uncaught exception but does not disclose the affected request handler, input, or operation that leaves the exception unhandled. Access to the network service as an authenticated user is required; exploitation crashes necessary subsystems and can lose snapshot or write-cache data.
