CVE-2025-43991

Arbitrary file deletion via symlink following

Published Oct 13, 2025 · Updated Oct 14, 2025

UNIX symlink following in Dell SupportAssist for Home PCs and Business PCs allows local users to delete arbitrary files. The Software Remediation component follows an attacker-controlled symbolic link during file deletion, so the operation targets a file outside its intended path; Dell has not identified the file or function involved. A low-privileged local account is required, and successful exploitation removes files only from the affected Windows system.
