CVE-2025-43971Network attack vector

Remote service crash via zero-length capability

Published Apr 21, 2025 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Denial of service in GoBGP before 3.35.0 allows remote attackers to crash the BGP process via a malformed Software Version capability. CapSoftwareVersion.DecodeFromBytes accepts a zero softwareVersionLen and then evaluates data[1:0], which triggers a Go runtime panic. An unauthenticated BGP connection that reaches OPEN capability parsing is sufficient, and the resulting panic interrupts routing service.
