Application crash via unchecked identity item reference
Published Apr 20, 2025 · Updated Apr 21, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in ImageItem_iden in Struktur AG libheif before 1.19.6 allows attackers to crash applications via crafted HEIF files. The identity-item methods obtain a referenced child image and dereference the returned pointer without checking whether that image exists. The crafted identity item must reference a nonexistent child and reach a color-space or pixel-depth query, terminating the process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
