Service interruption via stale MIFF image depth
Published Apr 23, 2025 · Updated Apr 26, 2025
Use-after-free in ImageMagick before 7.1.1-44 allows local users to interrupt MIFF image processing with a crafted image. ReadMIFFImage calls SetQuantumFormat but fails to copy the resulting quantum depth into image->depth, leaving later processing with inconsistent depth state. Processing an attacker-supplied MIFF file is required, and the documented consequence is process memory misuse and service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
