CVE-2025-43930Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Account takeover via Host-poisoned password reset link

Published Jul 7, 2025 · Updated Jul 8, 2025

Password reset poisoning in Hashview 0.8.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over accounts through a crafted Host header. The unauthenticated /reset_password route passes _external=True to Flask url_for without a configured SERVER_NAME, so Flask builds the emailed reset URL from the unvalidated Host header. A victim must follow the emailed link, which sends the reset token to an attacker-controlled domain and permits the attacker to set a new password.
