CVE-2025-43922

SYSTEM escalation via replaceable Fileset executable

Published Apr 21, 2025 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Incorrect authorization in the FileWave Windows client before 16.0.0 allows local users to gain SYSTEM privileges through a crafted Fileset. In a non-default Blocker Script Fileset, a non-administrator can replace a deployed executable before verification restores it, and the client then runs the replacement as SYSTEM. Exploitation requires local user access, a writable deployed executable, and a Blocker Script that invokes it during the five-minute verification gap.
