Stored XSS via MIME-gated upload sanitization
Published Jun 3, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Shared Files 1.7.48 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject scripts through unauthenticated file uploads. The sanitize_file() function trusts a MIME probe and returns mismatched HTML or SVG content unchanged instead of sanitizing or rejecting it. A site must expose the frontend upload form, and the script runs in the site's origin when a visitor opens the stored file.
