CVE-2025-43917

Administrator-to-root escalation via orphaned LaunchDaemon path

Published Apr 19, 2025 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Local privilege escalation in Pritunl Client for macOS before 1.3.4220.57 allows local users with administrator access to run code as root. An orphaned LaunchDaemon retains a root-run service path inside the removed application bundle, allowing a replacement pritunl-service file to execute as root. The condition requires drag-to-Trash removal to leave the daemon registered and an administrator able to write the replacement path.
