Reflected XSS via unescaped search filter attribute
Published Sep 16, 2025 · Updated Sep 16, 2025
Reflected XSS in Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP Search widgets allows remote attackers to inject script through the userId parameter. The users.jsp view writes the user-derived filter value directly into a data-value attribute without HTML attribute escaping. A victim must open the crafted request; successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled script in the victim's browser context, enabling page-data access or actions under that session.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
