Browser hang via regex role-name matching
Published Aug 23, 2025 · Updated Aug 23, 2025
Self-ReDoS in affected Liferay Portal 7.4 and Liferay DXP 7.4/2024 releases allows remote authenticated users to hang their browser. BaseRoleType.tsx passed lowercased role-name input to String.match(), compiling it as a regular expression instead of matching a literal substring. Reachability requires Kaleo Workflow update permission; affected Portal builds end at 7.4.3.131, while affected DXP ranges end at update 92 or the specified 2024 quarterly endpoints.
