Reflected XSS via unchecked redirect URL scheme
Published Aug 22, 2025 · Updated Aug 22, 2025
Reflected XSS in affected Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP releases allows remote authenticated users to inject JavaScript through a back URL. Before the fix, PortalUtil.escapeRedirect validated redirect destinations without enforcing an HTTP or HTTPS protocol allowlist. Authenticated access to the site-selection portlet is required; a crafted back-button URL executes attacker-supplied JavaScript in the portal browser context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
