Account enumeration via duplicate-email error discrepancy
Published Aug 22, 2025 · Updated Aug 22, 2025
User enumeration in affected Liferay Portal and DXP releases allows remote attackers to identify registered emails via account creation. CreateAccountMVCActionCommand adds a failure SessionError when duplicate-email validation finds an existing address, producing a response distinguishable from a new address. The create-account page must be exposed; no authentication is required, and disclosure is limited to account existence.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
