Browser script execution via unescaped widget label
Published Aug 12, 2025 · Updated Aug 12, 2025
Reflected XSS in Liferay Portal and DXP allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a custom sort widget label. ButtonTag.writeLabel passes the user-controlled first display label from the widget configuration to JspWriter without HTML escaping. An attacker needs access to configure the widget, and the payload runs in another user's browser when the affected page is refreshed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
