HTML injection via inline SVG rendering
Published May 19, 2025 · Updated May 19, 2025
HTML injection in ChatGPT through 2025-03-30 allows remote attackers to place deceptive content in conversations through crafted SVG markup. ChatGPT stores SVG or image markup supplied inside code blocks and later inserts it into the rendered conversation instead of preserving it as inert text. The markup appears when a conversation is reopened or accessed through a shared link, enabling phishing or disruptive visual effects without demonstrated JavaScript execution.
