CVE-2025-43537

Protected system-file modification via crafted backup path traversal

Published Feb 11, 2026 · Updated Feb 11, 2026

Path traversal in Books in Apple iOS and iPadOS allows attackers to modify protected system files through a crafted backup. Apple has not published the affected Books path-processing locus or the validation error that lets an archive path escape its intended destination. Exploitation requires restoration of an attacker-crafted backup and is limited to protected system-file modification, with no reported disclosure or service interruption.
