Sensitive data access via directory path parsing
Published Dec 12, 2025 · Updated Dec 12, 2025
Path traversal in StorageKit in Apple macOS before 14.8.3, 15.7.3, or 26.1 allows local users to read sensitive user data. StorageKit parses app-supplied directory paths without sufficient validation, allowing a malicious app to resolve paths outside an intended directory boundary. A locally installed app and low-privilege execution are required; the published impact is limited to reading sensitive data, with no integrity or availability effect.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
