CVE-2025-43244

System shutdown via AMD state-handling race

Published Jul 29, 2025 · Updated Apr 2, 2026

A race condition in Apple macOS allows attackers to cause unexpected system termination by executing an app that reaches the AMD component. Faulty state handling permits the race, but Apple has not disclosed the affected AMD operation or the state transition that becomes unsynchronized. App execution on Ventura before 13.7.7, Sonoma before 14.7.7, or Sequoia before 15.6 is required, and the reported consequence is system shutdown rather than code execution.
