Code execution via ICC profile buffer overrun
Published Jul 29, 2025 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in sips in affected Apple macOS releases allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted ICC profile. The ICC profile parser fails to validate user-supplied data before writing beyond an allocated buffer. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file and runs code in the current process; Apple reports unexpected app termination.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
