CVE-2025-43226

Process memory disclosure via ImageIO bounds error

Published Jul 29, 2025 · Updated Apr 2, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in ImageIO across Apple platforms before the July 2025 fixes allows attackers to disclose process memory via a crafted image. ImageIO reads beyond a valid buffer boundary while decoding attacker-controlled image data because the decoder does not adequately validate the input before the read. A local path that causes an affected device or Mac to process the image is required; the documented consequence is disclosure from the decoding process, with no reported write or execution impact.
