Path traversal in Apple Spell Check before iOS 26 and corresponding OS updates allows local users to access sensitive user data. Spell Check parses directory paths without adequately confining them to an intended directory, allowing a crafted path from an app to resolve outside that boundary. A locally running app must supply the crafted directory path; the documented consequence is reading sensitive user data, not modification or service interruption.
