Code execution via unchecked remote logo upload
Published May 13, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in CodexThemes TheGem 5.10.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code through a logo URL. The thegem_get_logo_url() function downloads the configured logo URL and copies it into the public uploads directory using the URL extension without checking the file type or extension. Subscriber access is sufficient to obtain the theme-options nonce, set a remote PHP file as the logo, and trigger its execution for full site compromise.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
