CVE-2025-43026

Local privilege escalation via arbitrary file write

Published Jun 5, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026

Improper permission preservation in HP Support Assistant before 9.44.18.0 allows local users to escalate privileges via an arbitrary file write. HP identifies the write primitive and maps the flaw to CWE-281, but does not disclose the affected component, file path, or operation that fails to preserve permissions. Exploitation requires active user interaction and additional attack conditions; successful exploitation grants elevated privileges and can interrupt service.
