Privilege escalation via malicious archive permissions
Published Jul 8, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Incorrect privilege assignment in SAPCAR 7.53 and 7.22EXT allows local users with high privileges to escalate via a malicious SAR archive. SAP has disclosed only that archive creation can encode critical-file and directory permissions without invalidating the archive signature; the exact permission-assignment locus is not public. Exploitation requires high-privilege local access and user interaction, and it primarily permits unauthorized changes to protected system resources.
