File overwrite via out-of-bounds archive processing
Published Jul 8, 2025 · Updated Jul 8, 2025
Memory corruption in SAPCAR 7.22EXT and SAP_CAR 7.53 allows local users to overwrite files via a crafted SAR archive. The extraction path processes attacker-controlled archive structures out of bounds, causing invalid memory reads and writes outside the intended directory. Exploitation requires a high-privileged victim to invoke SAPCAR on the archive; reported effects are limited disclosure and unintended file extraction or overwrite.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
