NTLM hash disclosure via UNC path authentication

Information disclosure in SAP GUI for Windows 8.00 allows remote authenticated users to expose NTLM hashes through UNC paths. Specific ABAP frontend services pass attacker-supplied UNC paths to Windows, which performs automatic NTLM authentication to the referenced network host. The attacker needs developer authorization on an Application Server ABAP, and a victim must execute the changed code in the GUI; the consequence is disclosure of hashed credentials.
