CVE-2025-42701

Arbitrary file deletion via TOCTOU race

Published Oct 8, 2025 · Updated Oct 8, 2025

A TOCTOU race in CrowdStrike Falcon Sensor for Windows allows local users with code execution to delete arbitrary files. CrowdStrike has not disclosed the affected file-handling locus, the checked path, or the operation raced before deletion. Exploitation requires prior low-privileged code execution on the host and winning a high-complexity race; the bounded consequence is arbitrary file deletion and resulting service interruption.
