Code execution via oversized RECV command
Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 2, 2025
Buffer overflow in PCMan FTP Server 2.0.7 allows remote attackers to execute code by sending an oversized RECV command. The RECV handler accepts a 2,006-byte argument without rejecting it, after which the published exploit overwrites the instruction pointer and redirects execution to supplied Windows shellcode. Anonymous FTP login is sufficient to reach the handler; successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled code in the server process, while malformed attempts can crash that process.
