Authentication bypass in METZ CONNECT EWIO2 firmware before 2.2.0 allows remote attackers to set root credentials via POST requests. The commissioning wizard fails to verify that a device has already been initialized before accepting credential-setting requests. Network access without authentication is sufficient, and the resulting root credentials grant administrative control to change configurations, manipulate data, or interrupt the device.
