Privilege escalation via unenforced partition permissions
Published Sep 8, 2025 · Updated Sep 8, 2025
Improper permissions in WAGO fieldbus coupler firmware before FW13 allow remote authenticated users to modify firmware files. The firmware briefly mounts hidden internal partitions containing firmware and certificates, while the Nucleus access layer fails to enforce its supported permissions. A low-privileged FTP or SFTP account and favorable mount timing are required; successful access permits sensitive-file disclosure and firmware modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
